The gas technical regulatory activities are part of the Energy, Water and sanitation sector within RURA. This technical directorate was created by the Regulatory Board decision on May 2nd, 2008 to cater for the dynamic and evolving character of the restructuring process that was initiated early 2008 in an attempt to better and timely respond to a number of technical regulatory challenges that are to be faced in the gas sub- sector.

Over the recent years, the latter has known quite positive developments in terms of perceived massive investments (KP1 , RIG, Contour Global, W+ S Beteiligungs, etc). That calls upon the Regulatory Agency to anticipate a number of challenges in terms of technical regulations aimed to foster a conducive environment for those investments.

The gas directorate happens to be the youngest directorate since it started to be operational since January, 7th, 2009 with a formal appointment of the Gas Director.
