The Economic affairs directorate is one of the cross cutting directorates whose mandate is to promote an environment conducive for fair competition and to support a market driven industry in regulated utility sectors. The directorate is comprised of four sections:

• The market analysis section is mainly concerned with evaluating the performance and development in the regulated sectors as well as publishing key statistics
• The costing and pricing section responsibility is to ensure that tariffs applied in the regulated utility sectors are aligned with costs of service provision
• The business and investment section main objective is to ensure that operators have required means and clear plans to conduct their businesses.
• The interconnection regulation section mandate is to ensure that interconnection is permitted to all licensed operators and that interconnection charges are cost based.
